FY 2016 Appropriation

The purpose for this line item is to provide funding for projects that rehabilitate or treat areas infested with or threatened by invasive species. In addition, funding can also be used for research projects related to invasive species.

Appropriation Overview

During the 2015 General Session, the Legislature appropriated for Fiscal Year 2016, $2,504,100 from all sources for Invasive Species Mitigation. This is a 78.1 percent increase from Fiscal Year 2015 revised estimated amounts from all sources.

UCA 4-2-8.7 creates the Invasive Species Mitigation Account.

HB0003: Item 128

Under the terms of 63J-1-603 of the Utah Code, the Legislature intends that appropriations provided for Invasive Species Mitigation in Item 32, Chapter 5, Laws of Utah 2014, shall not lapse at the close of FY 2015. Expenditures of these funds are limited to invasive species mitigation projects $1,000,000.


The department may use up to 10% of restricted account appropriation for administration or project planning, monitoring, and implementation expenses.
