H.B. 513, Early Intervention Program, from the 2012 General Session encourages literacy growth and achievement in students grades K-3. In its second year of implementation statewide, the program offers, through a competitive process, local education agencies (LEAs) the option to select from five interactive computer software programs designed to improve reading. LEAs participating in year one were given first priority to receive equivalent licenses during year two.
During the 2015 General Session, the Legislature appropriated for Fiscal Year 2016, $7,600,000 from all sources for Early Intervention. This is a 65.2 percent increase from Fiscal Year 2015 revised estimated amounts from all sources. The total includes $7,600,000 from the General/Education Funds, an increase of 65.2 percent from revised Fiscal Year 2015 estimates.
