This program includes funding from money received from any public agency for the provision of 911 emergency telecommunications service. While this program is housed within the Department of Public Safety, it is largely managed independently.

Funding History
Appropriation Overview

During the 2015 General Session, the Legislature appropriated for Fiscal Year 2016, $0 from all sources for Enhanced 911 Program. This is a 100 percent reduction from Fiscal Year 2015 revised estimated amounts from all sources.

Staff Analysis

The Department reports that the large carryforward balance is due to grants to local governments that meet the requirements of the E-911 restricted account but are yet to be expended.

The Legislature passed House Bill 155 to transfer funding and operation of the program to the newly created Utah Communcation Agaency Networks (UCAN) where this will assume the coordination of all public safety communication.
