The Alternative Energy Center research team is focused on developing new methods for harvesting solar energy, energy storage and development of biofuels from nonfood based feed-stocks. The team was established in 2012.
During the 2015 General Session, the Legislature appropriated for Fiscal Year 2016, $1,005,100 from all sources for U of U Alternative Energy Center. This is a 217.2 percent increase from Fiscal Year 2015 revised estimated amounts from all sources. The total includes $1,005,100 from the General/Education Funds, an increase of 217.2 percent from revised Fiscal Year 2015 estimates.
