The Applied Nutrition research team is focused on studying bacteria in the intestines and how it impacts overall nutrition and developing ways to tailor individual diets to reduce risk of obesity, heart disease, and other health problems. The team was established in 2006.
During the 2015 General Session, the Legislature appropriated for Fiscal Year 2016, $135,000 from all sources for USU Applied Nutrition Research. This is a 15 percent reduction from Fiscal Year 2015 revised estimated amounts from all sources. The total includes $135,000 from the General/Education Funds, a reduction of 15 percent from revised Fiscal Year 2015 estimates.
