FY 2016 Appropriation

The Civil Rights Office is responsible for the Department's Equal Employment Opportunity program and the Department of Transportation minority business enterprise program. The objective of the minority business enterprise program is to certify those businesses that meet all the eligibility requirements have opportunities to have bids awarded to them. Another objective of the minority business enterprise program is to encourage minority firms to bid on State and federal highway construction projects. This program is a required in order to utilize Federal Funds.

Appropriation Overview

During the 2015 General Session, the Legislature appropriated for Fiscal Year 2016, $234,800 from all sources for Civil Rights. This is a 4.6 percent increase from Fiscal Year 2015 revised estimated amounts from all sources.

HB0003: Item 32

Under terms of Utah Code Annotated Section 63J-1-603(3)(a), the Legislature intends that appropriations provided for Engineering Services in Item 2 of Chapter 4 Laws of Utah 2014 not lapse at the close of Fiscal Year 2015. The use of any non-lapsing funds is limited to the following: Engineering Services Special Projects ($300,000).
